The new season of Credo is to get back to the root calling of promoting Text telling and biblical storytelling, the plan is the following:
Take a text, tell it and see where it leads you. Live with a bible story, imbibe it learn it as a gift, pray over it and tell it and see what spin offs may come of it.
Pilgrim storytellers retreat
At the end of our year/season we all have a gathering, a story retreat, where we have the opportunity to share the text that we started our journey with. Share the adventures of learning that story, and any imaginative interpretations of the text that you might have created as a result of telling it.
The highlight of the weekend will be a presentation or performance that we offer to the local community as a fundraiser for a charity of our choice.
The date we have set is the midsummer’s night weekend of June 21 2008
(costs for storytellers retreat tbc spring of 2008)
Our aim is to strengthen and encourage people in the power of working with the Bible text
- To open up the Bible artistically, theologically and emotionally, to both people of faith and those seeking faith.
- To strengthen and broaden relationships amongst people and have fun
- It is about beginners and professionals alike journeying together as we seek to explore the twin disciplines of immersing ourselves in the text and preparing it for telling.
Costs and Online Community
Anybody who wants to participate in our story pilgrimage puts down £10, which you can do online and then you get access to Credo's Yahoo! Group and start building a network of support and interaction. Credo provides the structure and it's up to YOU to make the network, connections, friends and raise the game through prayer, discussion, insightful chat , challenge and wit.

The Basic Rules of this year Story as Gift and Adventure are as follows;
- Context - take a text from the Bible, Old Testament or new short or long a whole gospel or a parable
- Pray over it and offer it as a gift to be used how and whenever the Spirit leads
- Mull over the text and imbibe it, learn it emotionally.
- Tell it, working on a rule of thumb guide of approximately 70% word accurate and the remaining 30% is making it appropriate for your tongue
- If you are drawn to an imaginative telling of a character that only gets a few lines mention in the bible, the rule is that you learn the context of the text In which is placed in order to be able to earn the right to tell the imaginative interpretation at the Story retreat day.
Please look at the books we recommend on our Credo site and the links to others who have done biblical storytelling.
Enjoy the journey .........see you in June weekend of June 21 if not before!
